Kali Babou

From Lambic.Info

Kali Babou was a one-off experimental kriek lambic blended with rum by Brouwerij Boon. It was only served at the Zythos Bierfestival in Leuven in 2012. Its alcohol content is 14%.

Kali Babou was created as a tribute to the traditional warm Brussels holiday drink kalibabou. It was traditionally gifted to the guests of local Brussels cafés and bars as a gift for New Year's. Kalibabou is said to have been similar to North American eggnog, because it contained beaten eggs, lambic, sugar and rum. It was said to have "not been for those with a weak stomach". Its popularity, much like that of unblended lambic, declined in the early half of the 20th century. The precise origins of the name, rooted in Belgium's colonial history in Congo and other parts of Africa, remains unknown.
