Overview

Cuvée Kluysbosch is the name of a new series of spontaneously fermented, wood-aged and wild beers from Brouwerij Angerik in Dilbeek. Brewer Sam De Cuyper is producing small, exclusive, experimental batches. He ages lambic in bordeaux casks, whisky barrels, and an Italian foeder of 10 hectolitres. Brouwerij Angerik also supplies wort to other small blenders.

History

During the challenging COVID-19 period, brewer Sam of Brouwerij Angerik found inspiration to push his limits. He decided to brew beers of spontaneous fermentation for the first time – a centuries-old tradition deeply rooted in the Pajottenland.

These unique beers, better known as lambic beers, are characterized by their spontaneous fermentation process.

The production of lambic beers is not an easy task. It requires a completely separate brewery environment, since cross-infection between yeasts of spontaneous fermentation and that of high or low fermentation must be absolutely avoided. But for Sam, whose passion for lambic beers arose early on, this challenge was more than welcome.

“Lambiek is geen product van controle, maar van vertrouwen. De wilde gisten vinden hun eigen weg, en wij volgen met bewondering”. Sam De Cuyper, zaakvoerder

English translation: “Lambic isn't a product of control, but of faith (in nature). The wild yeasts find their own way, and we follow in admiration”. Sam De Cuyper, manager
