Framboos Passie
Description
Framboos Passie is a blend of 1, 2 and 3-year old lambic with 3 varietals of fresh raspberries from Pajottenland and fresh passion fruit from Sicily.
"Our philosophy is to work with high quality fresh fruit. Passion fruit has always been one of my favorite fruits, but sadly the passion fruit we get in Belgium is already a few months old by the time it gets here. In 2015 I happened to be at a fruit market in the Congo, and I ate fresh passion fruit there. A revelation! Fresh passion fruit is highly aromatic, has a perfect sweet/sour balance, and a good hint of spiciness.
I smuggled some passion fruit back home in my suitcase, and the rest is history (Oscar One). In 2018 we did the same thing when Brazilian friends smuggled suitcases of fresh passion fruit (Passie & Adriaan). I'm afraid the food safety department would not be happy about it. We've been looking for a long time to find fresh passion fruit closer to home. In 2019 we got in touch with Antonino in Sicily, a young farmer who started growing passion fruit a few years ago. Under the southern Italian sun, Antonino grows passion fruit until they're fully ripened on the vines, to reach the best organoleptic quality. Back to the beer.
