Bofkont Raspoetin Meets Malina
Description
Bofkont Raspoetin Meets Malina is a 2018 Kriek (1 and 2-year-old lambics aged on sour cherries, the first Bofkont Kriek aged in barrels) with the addition of raspberry and rhubarb, harvested during fall.
Here are the details given by Sam Hellemans :
"Our first barrel aged kriek (2018) is blended with a kriek from 2019 that has been a year on barrel. This cherry lambic blend has subsequently been macerated with autumn raspberries. Here we have added a third type of acid (Oxalic acid), this comes from the rhubarb. Oxalic acid is present in large quantities in the leaves which we do not use, the rhubarb stem contains only a low dose of this acid. By combining 3 different varieties we were able to achieve a good result. This in addition to the fruit acids of the raspberries & cherries. The acids of the old lambic also provide a diversity of the acid pallet. The blend is certainly not extremely acidic in terms of mouthfeel, you maybe should expect this from the explanation. This is partly due to the use of a soft lambic. The name of this blend originated with the magician Raspoetin, who certainly experimented with oxalic acid in his time. The Malina he meets is Russian for raspberry, which masks the danger with a seductive aroma."
