3 Fonteinen Oude Geuze Vintage - Honing
Description
3 Fonteinen Oude Geuze Vintage - Honing is a geuze infused with honey and first bottled in 2015 in 750ml bottles. It is labeled in the tradition of 3 Fonteinen Oude Geuze Vintage with a label depicting a Nacthlicthen painting by Flemish artist Felix de Boeck. It is labeled as 6.4% ABV.
History / Other Notes
For the first experimental batch, one coolship was filled with 8 kilograms of local, organic honey, and a small amount previously cooled wort was re-heated to dissolve the honey. Then, approximately 800 liters of boiling lambic wort was poured into it. After aging for approximately one year, this lambic was then blended with 2- and 3-year-old lambic to create a geuze. This bottling had been served on-site at the 3 Fonteinen Lambik-O-droom as well as at select bars for drink-in only between 2015 and its official brewery release in December 2018. Bottles depicting older-style 3 Fonteinen paper labels with handwritten "Honing" on it have also been seen outside of the brewery.
