Boon Oude Lambiek - Calvados Cask
Description
In September 2010, Boon kegged Oude Lambiek from Cask 65. Cask 65 was a Calvados barrel that had only been used for lambic once before. Frank Boon wrote: This is quite exeptional, 2 years old Lambic from a 112 HL shaved Calvados cask, foeder # 65, second fill. The Lambic has 7,21% Vol alcohol and has a nice oak/calvados character with a nice hint of gentian. It has a great drinkability. We will blend it in our regular Geuze by the end of the month (September 2010).[1]
Kegs have been served at the Mikkeller Bar in Denmark, Mikkeller and Friends in Denmark, Øl & Brød in Denmark, The Trappist in California, Fairbar in Denmark, and Brasserie 4:20 in Rome.
As Cask 65 has continued to be used, it's future production is providing lambics for Boon's gueuze products.
