History

Founded 1906 in Anderlecht by Edouard Limbourg (1877-1940) Brasserie Limbourg was a lambic blender that produced Gueuze & Kriek, and was located at 58 Sergeant De Bruynestraat. Edouard Limbourg was later assisted by his sons Nestor (1905-1984) and Edgard (1903-1992). Nestor ran the blendery until it's closure sometime in the 1960's. Edouard Limbourg had a brother Nestor, who also was a lambic blender in Gaasbeek (Lennik) along with his son, Maurice.

Edgard Limbourg also ran a café in Anderlecht, named Café Au Pont de Fer - D'Ijzerbrug, located on Chaussée de Mons. A second café named Café-Brasserie Limbourg was located near the blendery at rue de Fiennes 9. It was owned by Edouard Limbourg, and was later owned by his nephew, Paul Limbourg (1906-1988).

In 2014, the Cantillon Brewery purchased the vacant Limbourg building near their brewery for a planned expansion project.
