Description

Geuze Vélomoteur was a Cantillon Gueuze blend bottled in 2005 to celebrate Akkurat's 15th anniversary celebration in 2010. Because it's difficult for a lambic blender to make such a small blend, this was actually a split batch, with part of the blend used for Geuze Vélomoteur and the remainder sold as draft gueuze in 2005.[1]

History / Other Notes

Part of what makes this blend unique is that these bottles were cellared at Cantillon for 5 years after bottling, prior to their release in 2010. Bottles were only sold onsite at Akkurat.

The bottles used were leftover from the Goldackerl and Reed Gueuzes.[1]

Label Text:
For our 15th anniversary Jean Van Roy has made a very special Gueuze. It is a blend of 1, 2 and 3 year old lambic and was bottled in April of 2005. It has then been fermented and matured for 5 years in the deep caveaus of Cantillon.

15 years is the minimum age for driving a moped in Sweden, which is why we chose the name Gueuze Velomoteur.
