Description
Cuvée de Florian is a Cantillon Gueuze blend from 1996, the year that Florian Van Roy was born. It was named Cuvée de Florian in his honor. [1]
History / Other Notes
As is the tradition in a lambic brewer's family, Jean held back part of this blend for his son and part was bottled in 375ml bottles, labeled as Florian Van Roy and given to family and friends.[1]
Jean believed that this blend would age nicely and held back 1,000 750ml bottles from this blend. They were labeled with the yellow Cantillon Gueuze label and 1996 was written at the bottom. Around 2001, Jean brought some of these aging bottles out of the cellar. He served some at Quintessence, sent some to the United States, and sent others to Akkurat in Sweden. Akkurat added a sticker saying "Akkurat Cuvée 1996" to some bottles purely for their inventory and tracking purposes.[1][2]
