Description

Cantillon Zwanze 2017 is the tenth release in the Zwanze series of beers. This series has been released every year since 2008, and beginning in 2011, with a coordinated celebration around the world at various beer bars, breweries, and restaurants. The 2017 edition is a two year old lambic with Oolong tea leaves added.

History / Other Notes

Zwanze 2017 was created in recognition of Sylvain Van Roy's 18th birthday. Jean asked him what he would like to have brewed for him and he requested a lambic with tea. According to the brewery, several different types of tea at were sampled at the “Nong Cha” tea shop in the center of Brussels and three were chosen for trial blends with lambic. After a few days of maceration in two year old lambic, it was decided that Oolong (Wulong) tea, a semi-fermented blue-green tea, was the best candidate for Zwanze 2017.
