This beer originated from an idea of Stefano Lorenzetti, who found the aronia fruit interesting. Stefano is the owner of the shop Birre e Mundo Crudele, located in the city of Crema, Italy. He is a friend of Jean Van Roy, and they are both devout fans of the same soccer club, Union Saint Gilloise.

Aronia is a plant native to North America (Chokeberry) and the Siberian lands, containing strong medicinal properties belonging to the rosaceae family. It is a dense bush which produces fruits resembling elderberries, with a tannic and iron taste reminiscent of cranberry.
