Description

Cantillon Cuvée Mozart is a raspberry lambic with a small amount of vanilla (at the time, Jean-Pierre Van Roy was adding vanilla to his classic raspberry lambic, Framboise, to make the acidity of the fruit softer). It was aged in port barrels and released in 1991. It was bottled in 750 mL format and is 5% ABV.

History / Other Notes

The port barrels came from the same delivery as the ones used for the original batch of Brabantiae. This beer is similar to the classic Framboise at the time, except for the use of these particular barrels that added port qualities.

Cuvée Mozart was created for a club of people associated with the Cirque Royale/Koninklijk Circus (Royal Circus) in Brussels, who often feature classical music concerts.

This bottling was done to celebrate the Mozart Year in 1991 (the 200th anniversary of Mozart’s death). A series of concerts were held in a park in Brussels each Saturday from May to August, where Jean-Pierre and Jean Van Roy would attend for the entire duration to pour the beer.

Bottles were for sale at the brewery in the summer of 1991.
