Founded in 1933 in Essene by Jules Wambacq, who was also the mayor of Essene at the time. Located at the corner of [https://goo.gl/maps/qNrLvX9rYjw Eksterenberg and Fooststraat], the site dates back to the early 16th century as a brewery owned by the Wambacq family. Faro was first brewed here in 1848. Brasserie Ankerhof produced Faro, Gueuze, Kriek, Mars, and was active from 1933-1957.
