Cantillon Loerik

← Cantillon

Description

A Loerik is a blend of lambics intended to be gueuze. However, for some reason, the beer fails to referment. In 1998, a Cantillon gueuze was bottled that did exactly that. Sooner or later, these beers usually go through some form of refermentation which was the case with this batch.

History / Other Notes

In 2003 and 2004, Cantillon occasionally would open bottles for brewery visitors. Beginning in April 2004, bottles were sold commercially, featuring the cartoon character Poje on the label. At a minimum, bottles were distributed to bars and stores in Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, and the United States. On July 29, 2004 the TTB approved the Loerik label for distribution in the United States.[1]
