Description

Cantillon 20 Ans d'Amitiés is a blend of Lou Pepe Framboise and Cantillon Nath bottled for Monk's Cafe in Philadelphia. It was bottled to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Monks and 20 years of friendship between the Van Roy Family and Tom Peters, the owner of the cafe. It was bottled in 75cl bottles as well as in kegs and is listed as 7% ABV.

History / Other Notes

The label for this beer was designed by Jean Pierre Van Roy and depicts the Cantillon family and Tom Peters and symbolizes the friendship between the two. Of the bottling, Tom Peters gives the following story: "On October 18, 2017 I was in Brussels with my daughter Isabel Thomas-Peters to discuss the formulation and concept for the Monk's anniversary blend with Jean. He expected to do the blending and tasting in January-February. There is only a short window of time to add the rhubarb, and Jean called me in January and said, It's time! So I flew to Brussels the day after the Eagles won the Super Bowl, and tasted barrels and blended them that day. We put all of the Nath we had identified into the blending tanks, adding the Lou Pepe Framboise and tasting out of the tanks as we went. We added the framboise to soften the astringency of the rhubarb, ending up with a end ratio of 70 percent Nath to 30 percent Lou Pepe Framboise."

The bottled beer made its official debut at the cafe during an event at Monk's Cafe on December 4, 2018 where bottles were available for drink-in only.
