Description
3 Fonteinen Straffe Winter is a spontaneously fermented faro-style beer brewed at Brouwerij Boon by Armand Debelder. It was brewed with lager malt, amber malt, munich malt, aged hops, and candy sugar. It was bottled in 750ml bottles and is labeled as 8% ABV.
History / Other Notes
3 Fonteinen Straffe Winter was initially released in 2010 during the 3 Fonteinen Open Beer Days event in September. The beer was also sold throughout parts of Europe and was available on several Belgian-based webshops. There is some debate as to whether or not this beer is a "traditional" Faro due to the fact that it has not been determined at what point the candi sugar was added, and the beer itself lacks the traditional grain bill of lambic. Approximately 3700 bottles of Straffe Winter were bottled in January 2008, and the label notes that it is a one-time only bottling.
