Overview
Cafe In de Welkom was a small café located in Dworp (Tourneppe), Belgium, in the same town as Hanssens Artisanaal. They were known for serving mainly Hanssens products as well as being the oldest surviving local café, and possibly the longest surviving café under the same family ownership in Belgium. The café was purchased in 1906 by the Wauters family and has remained in operation under the same family ever since. Lisa Wauters, who recently celebrated her 90th birthday, has owned/operated the café since 1959, and has no immediate successors to the business. In December 2017 she passed away at age 91, after working in the café for 66 years. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]
