In 2016, bottles from the 2012-2013 batch of Stout Rullquin had become overcarbonated. Following the same process as used to produce [[Oude_(Gueuze_Tilquin)²_à_l’Ancienne]], 1000 75 cl bottles were opened and emptied into 2 wine barrels. However, in the case of (Stout Rullquin)², fresh barrels from Crozes-Hermitage were used after rinsing (but not fully cleaning) the barrels, giving additional wine character to the blend<ref name='Tilquin FB RQ2'>[https://www.facebook.com/124028207655169/photos/a.129134903811166.20377.124028207655169/1028167277241253/?type=3&theater Gueuzerie Tilquin Facebook post from 16 Feb 2016, retrieved 16 Nov 2016]</ref>.
