Originally a café blender, the café [[A La Bécasse]] was founded 1877 in Brussels by Henri Steppé. The beer company was founded by François Prosper Steppé and owned independently until acquired by Belle-Vue in 1952, then by Brabrux in 1972, and by Interbrew in 1992.<ref>[http://www.biernet.nl/bier/brouwerijen/belgie/brussel/anderlecht/becasse-steppe 2Brewery listing - biernet.nl]</ref> The café [[A La Bécasse]] is still independently family-owned by the 3rd generation of the Steppé family. <ref>[http://www.alabecasse.com/en/history.html A La Bécasse website 1]</ref>
