Cantillon Framboise
Description
Cantillon Framboise a raspberry lambic. It is the predecessor to Rose de Gambrinus. The 1986 label states that this beer contains 75% Framboise, 25% Kriek, and 0.05% Vanilla. This is the only Cantillon beer known to have vanilla.
History / Other Notes
Cantillon is the first known lambic blender to make a Framboise. In 1909, Jean Van Roy reports that Cantillon made more Framboise than Kriek. This continued until production of Framboise stopped during World War I. [1] Framboise was reintroduced in the 1980s when the two batches listed below were made.
Unsubstantiated Stories
It is unknown if any unlabeled bottles of Framboise were produced between World War I and 1982. It is also unclear if vanilla was used in any batch other than 1986.
