Description

Oud Beersel Oude Geuze Vieille - Vandervelden 137 is an oude geuze from Oud Beersel made entirely from 3-year-old lambic which fermented in fouders used previously for Brunello di Montalcino. It was released in 2019 in 375 mL bottles.[1][2].

This is the second release from Oud Beersel to highlight these foeders, following the 2017 release of Oude Geuze Vieille - Vandervelden 135, a previous blend including 1 year-old-lambic from the newly acquired Brunello di Montalcino foeders.

History / Other Notes

The Oude Geuze Vandervelden series is a tribute to the founder of Oud Beersel, Henri Vandervelden, who started the brewery in 1882. The brewery was named Vandervelden until 1954, when his grandson, also named Henri Vandervelden, who took over the brewery in 1953, changed the name to Oud Beersel as a response to what he called to be the changed and the ‘new Brussels’.
