Brasserie de la Couronne was founded in 1929 by the Herinckx brothers in Uccle, Belgium. The history of the brewing site goes back further, to 1892, when the brewery was originally named "Brasserie Herinckx Enfantes". The origin of the name traces back to 1630, when an inn named "De Kroon" was established on the site by Jean Marcelis. The brewery was acquired in 1959 by Brasserie Leopold, renamed "Nouvelles Brasseries a la Couronne" and later closed in 1966.<ref name="GM - Couronne"> [http://belgianbeerspecialist.blogspot.com/2011/05/gueuzerie-tilquin.html Belgian Beer and Travel - Gueuzerie Tilquin] 9http://biere-et-brasseries-bruxelles.skynetblogs.be/archive/2008/03/24/nouveau-la-brasserie-couronne-a-uccle.html 1Guy Moerenhout - Brasserie de la Couronne]</ref>
