Toer de Geuze

Overview

Toer de Geuze is a biennial event happening in odd-numbered years in which many of HORAL member breweries open their doors to the public for tours and tastings. It is generally organized in the Spring.

History

The first Toer de Geuze took place in 1997 when Boon, De Cam, Lindemans, De Troch, 3 Fonteinen, and Timmermans opened their doors to the public. Toer de Geuze is now one of the largest lambic-centered events in the Pajottenland. Charter buses now run specific routes to take attendees to the different breweries, and a riding tour of the Pajottenland takes place in concurrence with the Toer de Geuze. In 2013, nearly 10,000 people participated in the event.^[1]

Toer de Geuze has taken place in every odd-numbered year since 1997. In 2017, the event was expanded from one day to two. The dates are as follows:

Participants

Not every HORAL member participates, and the participating breweries can vary from year to year.

In 2009, the eight participating breweries/blenders were 3 Fonteinen, Boon, De Cam, De Troch Hanssens, Lindemans, Oud Beersel and Timmermans.

In 2011 the eight participating breweries/blenders were 3 Fonteinen, Boon, De Cam, De Troch, Hanssens, Lindemans, Oud Beersel, and Timmermans.

In 2013 the eight participating breweries/blenders were Boon, De Cam, De Troch, 3 Fonteinen, Timmermans, Hanssens, Oud Beersel, and Tilquin.^[1]

In 2015, the nine participating breweries/blenders were Boon, De Troch, 3 Fonteinen, Hanssens, Lindemans, Mort Subite, Oud Beersel, Tilquin, and Timmermans.

In 2017, the ten participating breweries/blenders were Boon, De Cam, De Troch, 3 Fonteinen, Lindemans, Oud Beersel, Tilquin, Hanssens, Timmermans, and Mort Subite.

In 2019, the nine participating breweries/blenders were Boon, De Cam, De Troch, Lindemans, Oud Beersel, Tilquin, Hanssens, Timmermans, and Mort Subite.

HORAL Mega Blend

For the seventh occurance of Toer de Geuze, HORAL commissioned a special geuze bottling from eight of the participating members. The result came to known as HORAL Mega Blend, and it has been bottled for each Toer de Geuze since then.
