Description

Cantillon Citoyen du Monde is an approximately two year old lambic with passion fruit added. It was bottled exclusively in 75cl bottles for Shelton Brothers Importers and is listed as 5% ABV.

History / Other Notes

Cantillon Citoyen du Monde (English: World Citizen) debuted in October 2016 at the Shelton Brothers Festival in Louisville, KY. The beer commemorates the 20th anniversary of Shelton Brothers and Cantillon working together. Initially, Shelton Brothers had sought to get fresh Liliko'i passion fruit from Hawaii, but due to the timing of the lambic season and difficulty exporting the fruit, the brewery used a passion fruit purée from Peru in April of 2016. The 220 liter batch was aged for two to two and a half months with the fruit purée and bottled in June 2016.

Rear label text:
The connection between the Cantillon and Shelton families is a lovely story that began two decades ago. Brother Joel was a bassist touring with a show that came to the Cirque Royal in Brussels. He made a chance visit to the brewery and was welcomed warmly by my mother, Claude. Joel fell in love with our lambic immediately, and Dan and Will followed soon after.

1996 was the year of our debut in the US, and with it, Shelton Brothers was born. "The American Dream" became a reality for Cantillon as it did for Shelton Brothers. It was the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Twenty years later we're warmly welcoming the newest addition to the Shelton family, Victor. Citoyen du Monde is a celebration of the past we've shared and of the future in store. Bon anniversaire et merci mes amis. Jean Van Roy
