Overview

Donder Brews is a tiny brewery located in Vlezenbeek, close to Brussels. It is probably the smallest lambic brewery in the Pajottenland and one of the smallest craft breweries in Belgium (they also brew Oud Bruin and Saison beers), with a total of just over 80 hl produced during the 2023-24 season on a brewing installation made to brew 3 hl at a time. In 2024, they owned less than 40 oak barrels from France and Italy.

They experiment with local grains, fruits and herbs, as they feel it is the best way to display the terroir and spirit of the Pajottenland region.

History / Other Notes

Donder was founded by 5 friends in 2020: Filip Fransen, Jan Hoffmann, Mathieu Lautrédoux, Wiet Vandormael, and Koen Van Leeuw. After homebrewing for a while

They brew about 14 times per season in average and all beers are spontaneously fermented, even other styles than lambic.

They’re open only by appointment or special events, and group visits with tastings are possible in multiple languages.
