De Keersmaeker was founded in 1869 in Kobbegem, BE, and previously had been a brewery site since 1604.  The brewery was also known as "Den Hert", or "The Deer". It first merged with [[Brasserie Brabrux | Brabrux]] before being acquired by [[Brasserie Mort Subite | Mort Subite (Alken-Maes)]] in 1971, and remains their current production site today.
