History
Dewolfs was founded in 1784 in Watermael-Boitsfort near Brussels, and operated as a successful lambic brewery until 1960. In 1866, Joannes Dewolfs was the landowner and brewer. Dewolfs brewery was located at rue Middlebourg 66-68, and produced Faro, Gueuze, Gueuze Dewolfs, Gueuze Lambic, Kriek, Kriek Dewolfs, and Lambic Dewolfs. In 1885, a "J.-Ph. (Jean Phillipe) Dewolfs" was listed in the catalogue of the world's fair. In the early 20th century, it was operated by Edouard & Henri Dewolfs. Henri had two sons, Georges and Hippolyte, who may have continued brewery operations until 1960. In 1961, the brewery was acquired by Brasseries Unies.
