The pub itself is very old, having previously been owned for 51 years by a woman named Marguerite until 1999. Slated to close after Christmas in 1999, brothers Kurt and Yves Panneels took over the pub. Renovations occurred from 2001-2005 while an effort was made to preserve the original character of the building.
