History

Brouwerij Winderickx was founded in 1765 in the village of Dworp (Tourneppe), Belgium. In 1864, the owner was Frans van Hemelrijck, who passed away during brewery renovations, and ownership was transferred to his widow. In 1891, her grandchildren, brothers Gustaaf and Desiré Winderickx assumed ownership. Desiré's son August Winderickx inherited the brewery in 1910. [1] His son Edgar Winderickx took over the operations in 1957, following the death of his father. Winderickx supplied lambic to Wielemans, Aerts, Imperial, and Caulier. [2] In 1968, the brewery was acquired by De Boeck-Goosens (Brasserie Unies) and was closed a year later in 1969.[3] [4] In 1998, a project to convert the vacant brewery to apartments began, led by architect Steven Winderickx, son of Edgar Winderickx.[5] Mr. Edgar Winderickx passed away at the age of 87 in February 2015.
